About
Shawn Price
My mother is Malaysian, and my father, though born in the UK, was raised in Australia. They met in Malaysia while my father was on an Australian Army officer exchange, forging a bond that would span continents.

Years later, I was born and raised in Australia, carrying a deep pride in both my heritage and the values instilled in me. My mother devoted her full time to raising my brother and I, teaching us the basics herself and opening every door she could to help us grow. Watching my father dedicate nearly 50 years to the Australian Army shaped my understanding of duty, sacrifice, and service beyond self. That sense of purpose has been my compass - guiding me through the challenges and triumphs of building deep tech startups, advising state governments on climate policy, and teaching thousands of high school and university students.

Along the way, I found love and partnership in Abeeha. We met during our PhDs in the Climate Change Cluster labs at UTS, and her unwavering belief in me has strengthened everything I do.

Today, I stand as an Australian scientist, engineer, educator, and Army Reservist, ready to serve my country in a new way - because every step of my journey has led me here.

I want to serve Australia by tackling the big challenges that will shape our future. Our country’s prosperity is tied to the world around us - whether it’s climate change, AI, future pandemics, or global security.
To stay strong in this changing world, we need to go beyond relying on resources and invest in the industries of our future - clean energy, advanced manufacturing, AI, and space. Industries that will create jobs not take them away, grow our economy, and keep Australia safe and competitive.
I believe in a long-term vision that makes sure Australia isn’t just falling behind but leading the way.
